Journalism Class Comes to Florida Virtual School
By Eliana Lozano, Grade 10
For all of those journalism fanatics out there, Florida Virtual School is offering a Journalism I course. The course is made up of 2 segments; it will award the student a full high school credit upon the successful completion of the course.
Some of the topics included in the course are research skills, outlining, article writing, careers in journalism and many other topics. The use of Web 2.0 tools will be very important, since presentations, projects, and current news will be reported to the teachers.
The course is available to Florida students, and is not yet available to global school students.
After finishing the course, students should be able to locate, gather, and evaluate written information to use for presentations and write articles. It is very exciting to know that students will be able to take a journalism class during the summer or during the school year in the comfort of their house or a public library.
